Perlat Garnatxa
Perlat is one of Cellers Unió's flagship wines, renowned for its structure and aromas. After the creation of the DO Montsant, Perlat was one of the first wines to appear under this designation of origin. Since the 2017 vintage, the winery has stepped up quality both in the wine and in its image, which give it a huge personality and a truly special appeal.

Tasting
Appearance
Intense claret-coloured wine, with a persistent depth.
Nose
Aroma of fresh red fruit (strawberries) and black fruit (blackberries). Aromatic herbs. Finish of fruit compote.
Mouthfeel
Light attack and a lingering midpalate. Unctuous, fleshy and rounded, with hints of liquorice, delicate tannins and a fruity flavour.
General
Montsant at its best. This is a red wine that spends more than ten months maturing and intensifying in barrels of the best quality. In it you can Tastinge the ripe fruits, spicy touches and tannins that come from wood ageing. A quintessential Mediterranean wine.
Serving temperature
Recommended serving temperature between 14 and 16 degrees. Better to open the bottle a while before serving.
Pairing Notes
Red meats, game, stews and roasts. Cold cuts and cured cheeses.
Occasion
Like the entire Perlats range, this is a wine that easily pairs with a whole host of dishes and with more informal meals. It pairs so wells as it delivers a good balance of acidity that is a fanTastingic tool to counteract a slightly oily dish, triggering a refreshing sensation. Meanwhile, the tannins from the skin of the grape and the wood of the barrel leave an astringent sensation in the mouth, cleansing the palate and leaving it ready for the next bite.
In the vineyard
Selected vineyards over 30 years old in the village of Els Guiamets, with chiefly honeycomb soils. The honeycomb soils add complexity to the wine as they're compact soils, with a good water retention, which is very interesting in today's climate crisis episodes.
In the winery
The Perlat Garnatxa is all about the Garnacha from Montsant. After the alcoholic fermentation, it goes on to malolactic fermentation in the barrel, where it rests for a minimum of 10 months. Between 60-70% of the barrels used are French oak, while the rest are American.
Cellers Unió
In 1942 the Union of Cooperatives of the Camp of the Province of Tarragona to Reus was constituted. The entity was created with the aim of bringing together all the farmers of the province.
Three years later, Unió acquired the first facilities on Tivoli Street in the city of Reus, popularly known as "La Exportadora". In 1945 the Priorat Designation of Origin was born. That year, Unió bottled its first bottle of DO Priorat wine. In 1963 the Union of Cooperatives of the Camp of the Province of Tarragona is separated from the State and becomes a private entity.
Do Montsant
In 1932, the Falset subzone was created within the limits of the DO Tarragona, which had previously occupied the current territory of the DO Montsant (finally created in 2001). It currently has a total of fifty-nine wineries spread between the Priorat and the Ribera de Ebro. The DO covers everything from family vineyards to private wineries of various sizes and major cooperatives.
