Tasting

Appearance

Red wine with not too an intense colour (typical of young Garnachas) with hints of bright cherry.

Nose

Floral and red fruit aromatic expression, with balsamic notes. Scents of forest floor.

Mouthfeel

On the palate it's easy to drink, mellow, fresh and fruity. Very mellow thanks to its sweet points and clear acidity.

General

A red wine with an unmistakeable, fresh Mediterranean character, the pure essence of the Garnacha Tinta from the Terra Alta. The vigour of its youth is a prime example of the Terra Alta vineyards and their fascinating red Garnachas.

Serving temperature

Between 8 and 10 degrees

Pairing Notes

A very mellow wine, ideal to accompany meals that aren't too elaborate or highly flavoured, such as tender meats or cheese salads. If you're looking for a red to drink chilled at summer parties, this will also suit you. And if pizza is on the menu, you've just found your wine!

Occasion

Talking about a young Garnacha introduces us to a range of wines that are usually classified as 'still' wines. But the Terra Alta grapes give it a special added value. This is a red wine that is very easy to drink, not at all aggressive, smooth and mellow, and it will whisk you off to the forests that surround its vineyards.

In the vineyard

Vineyards planted on irregular terraces in the Vilalba dels Arcs area. With mostly calcareous soils not too rich in organic matter. The typical winds of the Mediterranean climate favour the ripening of the grape.

In the winery

Grape meticulously nurtured in the vineyard, picked by hand and pressed gently. Vinification process during which various fermentations are carried out at different temperatures to extract as much as possible from the Garnacha. Selected yeasts.

Cellar

Cellers Unió

In 1942 the Union of Cooperatives of the Camp of the Province of Tarragona to Reus was constituted. The entity was created with the aim of bringing together all the farmers of the province.

Three years later, Unió acquired the first facilities on Tivoli Street in the city of Reus, popularly known as "La Exportadora". In 1945 the Priorat Designation of Origin was born. That year, Unió bottled its first bottle of DO Priorat wine. In 1963 the Union of Cooperatives of the Camp of the Province of Tarragona is separated from the State and becomes a private entity.

Do Terra Alta

Do Terra Alta

The so-called Customs of Orta (1296) and Miravet (1319) already regulated the sale of wine from the region. But it wasn't until the late nineteenth century that winegrowing became widespread. With the phylloxera plague, the demand from producers for DO Terra Alta [1] grapes increased, first from the French and then from the neighbouring regions that today are DO Tarragona and DOQ Priorat. In the early twentieth century, the organisation of cooperatives was a revolution.
