Pairing Notes
We recommend pairing this wine with rice dishes, cheeses, cold cuts, poultry and stewed meats.
Occasion
This range of single-varietal wines lets you discover and enjoy a specific variety to the fullest. In this case of the Merlot, it produces rounded and full-bodied wines with an intense colour, a moderate level of alcohol, fruity aromas and relatively little acidity. They're wines that don't need much ageing, so they're usually consumed as easily drinkable young reds. This wine is faithful to the characteristics that we've just mentioned. If you look at the pairing section, you'll see that it's truly versatile, although this is a magnificent red for slow-cooked stews. For example, try it with a good fricassee. A marriage made in heaven!
In the vineyard
The legacy of previous generations of winegrowers provides a trusted hallmark. From Gelida to El Vendrell and throughout the Penedès, more than 2,300 hectares of vineyards spread across more than fifty towns and villages make up the Covides vineyard.
In the winery
The grapes are selected, meticulously prepared, aged for twelve months in oak barrels and refined in the bottle in the Covides cellars.
Covides
Covides is the leading wine cooperative in Catalonia in terms of volume, with an average annual harvest of around twenty-four million kilos of grapes.
It stems from the desire of more than six hundred winegrowers from the Penedès to use their harvests to make wine together.
Do Penedès
The DO Penedès is the Denomination of Origin with the most history and tradition in Catalonia, located just forty kilometres away from Barcelona.
Thanks to its geographical location, it produces wines influenced by the sea breezes that come from the Garraf coast and reach the pre-coastal mountain range. After centuries of winemaking tradition, the DO Penedès is approaching the future as a benchmark in Catalonia.
