Llicorella Clàssic
A Priorat perfect for pairing and rich in nuances. Llicorella is made with grapes from vines that grow on terraces on poor, mineral soil. Most of the soil is made up of siliceous slate, known as the 'llicorella', which gives the wines their exclusive character. The average production per vine is often less than 1 kilo, which gives excellent properties to the grape.

Pairing Notes
It's also a great wine for pairing. Recommended to accompany red meats, game and more elaborate dishes such as roast lamb, pork or veal with various sauces. What's more, it can be enjoyed with blue and cured cheeses. And another pairing that may surprise you: try it with a quality dark chocolate and you'll be blown away.
Occasion
The Llicorella Classic has many qualities but we'd like to highlight a very specific one: it's one of those wines that will help you explore the range of more complex Priorat reds. We'd also like to point out that it's wonderfully versatile when it comes to pairing with food. Great result whether you drink it by the glass, if you accompany it with a hearty meal and, surprisingly, if you choose to pair it with dark chocolate. Get ready for a burst of flavours in your mouth.
In the vineyard
Old vines from Poboleda and Gratallops, planted on hillsides. With a very low yield per vine. Poor mineral soil with siliceous slates combined with calcareous soil. A very special terroir.
In the winery
Separate fermentation of the varieties in small tanks to guarantee the essence of the wineries. Spontaneous yeasts. Consecutive macerations at the beginning of fermentation and more spread out afterwards. Aged for one year in 225-litre French and American oak barrels.
Cellers Unió
In 1942 the Union of Cooperatives of the Camp of the Province of Tarragona to Reus was constituted. The entity was created with the aim of bringing together all the farmers of the province.
Three years later, Unió acquired the first facilities on Tivoli Street in the city of Reus, popularly known as "La Exportadora". In 1945 the Priorat Designation of Origin was born. That year, Unió bottled its first bottle of DO Priorat wine. In 1963 the Union of Cooperatives of the Camp of the Province of Tarragona is separated from the State and becomes a private entity.
Doq Priorat
The Cartoixa de Scala Dei monastery symbolises the historical birthplace of wines and winegrowing of the DOQ Priorat (Qualified Designation of Origin).
Back in the twelfth century, Carthusian monks brought from Provence the knowledge and techniques to develop a viticulture that soon took root and has evolved over the centuries. The Carthusian domains formed the so-called historical Priorat, which today coincides with the DOQ Priorat wine region.
