Plana D'En Fonoll Cabernet Sauvignon
This family of wines provides an insight into less common vines and more international wine styles, while always maintaining the Mediterranean character that the local environment bestows on all the wines from the winery. And hence the name, Plana d'en Fonoll, paying homage to the landscape and fennel, an omnipresent wild plant around our vineyards.

Pairing Notes
Delicious wine perfectly suited to red meat and grilled vegetables. It pairs very well with veal, duck and lamb or stewed meatballs. Thinking of simpler preparations, you can try it with the typical escalivada salad with red peppers, aubergine and anchovies. It also goes very well with hard cheeses, which can be complemented with toasted bread and tomato or pepper chutney. Drink within four years of harvest. Serve chilled (14°C).
Occasion
This range of wines, in addition to its own identity with the values offered by this variety, provides an insight into how an international variety grows in the Tierra Alta. In this case we're talking about a Cabernet Sauvignon. This is a very drinkable and laid-back red wine that will surprise you if you drink it by itself or pair it with a delicious meal. You'll probably have heard that it isn't easy to pair a wine with an escalivada or with herring? Well, here's the contradiction. But you can go further and try it with an assortment of soft cheeses. Hungry now!
In the vineyard
Vines and viticulture of the Cabernet Sauvignon variety in Bot, Batea, Caseres, Gandesa and Horta de San Joan. Vineyards between 6 and 20 years old. Conventional and double Cordon de Royat cultivation and pruning.
In the winery
Alcoholic fermentation and temperature-controlled maceration. Half of the wine has been aged in French oak barrels for five months.
Sant Josep Vins
Agrícola Sant Josep is a cooperative that was founded in the village of Bot in 1962. It processes and sells the fruits of the three most traditional woody crops in Mediterranean agriculture: the vine, the olive tree and the almond tree.
Do Terra Alta
The so-called Customs of Orta (1296) and Miravet (1319) already regulated the sale of wine from the region. But it wasn't until the late nineteenth century that winegrowing became widespread. With the phylloxera plague, the demand from producers for DO Terra Alta [1] grapes increased, first from the French and then from the neighbouring regions that today are DO Tarragona and DOQ Priorat. In the early twentieth century, the organisation of cooperatives was a revolution.
