It's also great for anyone who wants to enjoy a good wine shortly after the harvest. Wines without any type of pretence and which, in this case, showcases a coupage that conveys the soul of the truly special territory of Montsant. And this one has quite a specific pairing recommendation. Have you ever wondered which wine could go well with some seasonal chanterelles? This Cor del País is the perfect match!
In the vineyard
People in the Montsant have been working the vineyards for thousands of years. It's a very remote area, based on a crop that protects nature with huge respect for the environment. The vineyards stretch along the slopes of the mountains, nestled between olive groves and forests.
In the winery
Controlled maceration of the grape during alcoholic fermentation to prevent astringency and guarantee the extraction of aromas and colour. The fundamental goal of the entire process is to respect the fruit of the vintage as much as possible.
In 1942 the Union of Cooperatives of the Camp of the Province of Tarragona to Reus was constituted. The entity was created with the aim of bringing together all the farmers of the province.
Three years later, Unió acquired the first facilities on Tivoli Street in the city of Reus, popularly known as "La Exportadora". In 1945 the Priorat Designation of Origin was born. That year, Unió bottled its first bottle of DO Priorat wine. In 1963 the Union of Cooperatives of the Camp of the Province of Tarragona is separated from the State and becomes a private entity.
In 1932, the Falset subzone was created within the limits of the DO Tarragona, which had previously occupied the current territory of the DO Montsant (finally created in 2001). It currently has a total of fifty-nine wineries spread between the Priorat and the Ribera de Ebro. The DO covers everything from family vineyards to private wineries of various sizes and major cooperatives.
