Costers del Gravet
A red wine with a lot of personality and a distinction very typical of the DO Montsant and even more, of the winery that produces it, Celler de Capçanes. It emphasizes its richness in the nose: a great variety of aromas, pleasant and very well integrated.
Type of wine
Garnatxa negra, Merlot, Ull de llebre, Samsó
Designation of origin
Style of Wine
Fine red wine
Dense ruby red color.
Complex aromas of red fruits, ripe cherry, figs, turnips and smoked ones. We also find toasted aromas from the barrel and soft tannins.
Great finish in the mouth with a good integration of aromas.
A very powerful crianza wine with an acidity that keeps it quite alive.
Between 16 and 18 degrees
Ideal for an informal dinner in which you can not miss a cheese tasting or, for a family meal. Of course! As long as it is your mother or grandmother who cooks one of her stews! It brings to each meal a plus of personality and distinction very typical of the DO Montsant and more of the winery that produces them, the Celler de Capçanes.
It pairs very well with an assortment of cheeses, with game birds, rice or with a good beef fillet. And if you prefer fish, you can also drink it with a homemade stew of well-spiced fish: a monkfish and clams casserole would be a fantastic option! We recommend you to decant it before serving.
In the vinyeard
Grapes selected from Grenache and Carignan vines, from 30 to 60 years old and Cabernet Sauvignon from 15 to 20 years old planted on terraces in a clay and granite sun, at an altitude of 200 to 550m. Picked by hand, from early and mid-September to mid-October.
In the winery
All varieties are fermented separately at a controlled temperature (27-29ºC; natural yeast). Maceration: 14-21 days. Malolactic fermentation in vats. Gentle filtering before bottling, no cold stabilization. Aged 3 months in vats before bottling and then 12 months in new French oak barrels, medium and light toasted.
Celler de Capçanes
Capçanes Celler is located in the south of the DO Montsant. A territory with centuries of wine history that the winery is proud to be able to show through its wines.
The winery was founded in 1933. 50 years later, he began to bottle his own wines and in 1995 he began the production of his kosher wine with the Mevushal method.
In 1932, the Falset subzone was created within the limits of the DO Tarragona, which had previously occupied the current territory of the DO Montsant (finally created in 2001). It currently has a total of fifty-nine wineries spread between the Priorat and the Ribera de Ebro. The DO covers everything from family vineyards to private wineries of various sizes and major cooperatives.
