Pleasant and balanced midpalate with refreshing and lingering afterTastinge.
Medium-bodied dry white wine. Fruity. The blend of Garnacha Blanco and Macabeo is one of the most typical and balanced of local white wines. The Macabeo comes from selected vineyards of twenty or more years of age.
Ideal to pair with all types of pasta, salads, grilled meats, tapas, soft cheeses or a cold cut platter. And also wonderful with a Tastingy pizza.
Clot d'Encís Clàssic is the most versatile DO Terra Alta white produced by Agrícola San Josep. It's light enough to enjoy as an aperitif and with enough flavour to pair with some main dishes. This versatility is perfect for group meals and celebrations without guests missing out on savouring the character of Terra Alta whites. And although it sounds like a cliché, it's amazing value for money.
In the vineyard
It's made from the production of vineyards selected for their moderate yield and a perfectly healthy harvest. In the case of Macabeo vineyards, they have selected plots of twenty years or more of age.
In the winery
Both varieties are made separately. In the winemaking process, the Garnacha Blanca must is made with an extended maceration in the pre-fermentation phase. Fermentation is followed by coupage and the wine is kept on its fine lees for three months.
Sant Josep Vins
Agrícola Sant Josep is a cooperative that was founded in the village of Bot in 1962. It processes and sells the fruits of the three most traditional woody crops in Mediterranean agriculture: the vine, the olive tree and the almond tree.
Do Terra Alta
The so-called Customs of Orta (1296) and Miravet (1319) already regulated the sale of wine from the region. But it wasn't until the late nineteenth century that winegrowing became widespread. With the phylloxera plague, the demand from producers for DO Terra Alta grapes increased, first from the French and then from the neighbouring regions that today are DO Tarragona and DOQ Priorat. In the early twentieth century, the organisation of cooperatives was a revolution.
