Exquisite expression of the most representative types and styles of the DO Terra Alta. They reflect the idyllic surrounding landscape and the location of the village of Bot, nestled between the ravines that drain into the River Canaletes. The result of an age-old tradition of producing wines for everyday consumption and the demands of occasional wine drinkers.

Clot d'Encís Clàssic is the most versatile DO Terra Alta white produced by Agrícola San Josep. It's light enough to enjoy as an aperitif and with enough flavour to pair with some main dishes. This versatility is perfect for group meals and celebrations without guests missing out on savouring the character of Terra Alta whites. And although it sounds like a cliché, it's amazing value for money.
It's made from the production of vineyards selected for their moderate yield and a perfectly healthy harvest. In the case of Macabeo vineyards, they have selected plots of twenty years or more of age.
Both varieties are made separately. In the winemaking process, the Garnacha Blanca must is made with an extended maceration in the pre-fermentation phase. Fermentation is followed by coupage and the wine is kept on its fine lees for three months.
Agrícola Sant Josep is a cooperative that was founded in the village of Bot in 1962. It processes and sells the fruits of the three most traditional woody crops in Mediterranean agriculture: the vine, the olive tree and the almond tree.
The so-called Customs of Orta (1296) and Miravet (1319) already regulated the sale of wine from the region. But it wasn't until the late nineteenth century that winegrowing became widespread. With the phylloxera plague, the demand from producers for DO Terra Alta [1] grapes increased, first from the French and then from the neighbouring regions that today are DO Tarragona and DOQ Priorat. In the early twentieth century, the organisation of cooperatives was a revolution.
