This dessert wine is the result of an attempt to recover a widely used ageing method on the other side of the Albera. One old barrel from the Solera de Garnacha de Espolla is selected and kept for more than a year in the windows of the winery in small glass containers. A majestic and exceptional dessert wine.

In the vineyard

In the Empordà, they call the Garnacha variety hackberry, because the term Garnacha is reserved for this mellow, silky wine with the warmth of the Mediterranean sun that has ripened each grape.

In the winery

Natural dessert wine made with mid-fermentation wine alcohol and double oxidative ageing in a 600-litre American oak barrel and with a solera started more than fifty years ago; and in demijohns placed in the sun in the windows of the winery.

The building of the Bodega Cooperativa de Espolla cooperative opened its doors on 8 November 1931, designed by the architect Pelayo Martinez and inspired by the so-called wine cathedrals of the Tarragona area.

The project had its origins in the Espolla Agricultural Union, established in 1906 by its winegrowers.
