Celler Cooperatiu L'Olivera makes wines and olive oils with a view to expressing their true origins. It's a cooperative for social integration, which incorporates people with difficulties who play an active role in the whole process. "We firmly believe that work is a dynamic and emotional experience". Along with production activities and labour market integration, the cooperative carries out social activities, mainly for people with mental disabilities.
These people form part of the cooperative and can become full members if they wish. The project began in 1974 in Vallbona de les Monges, in the heart of Catalonia.
Winery located in the village of Vallbona de les Monges famous for its white wines, sparkling wines and red wines, while its dessert wines deserve a separate chapter.
All of them have a distinctive Mediterranean character, with limited editions made with grapes grown on terraces facing different directions, a factor that gives each wine its own particular character. Organic farming criteria also define the project, with some plots producing about two hundred thousand kilos per year.
International Wine Awards: Gold Medal for the dessert wines Rasim Vimadur 2016 and Uva Vino Marchito 2016. Gold Medal for the wines Blanco de Márgenes 2018, Eixaders Chardonnay 2018, L'Olivera Reserve Superior Brut Nature 2014 and V89 Macabeo 2017.
L'Olivera also won the Gold Medal at the International Award of Excellence in Sustainable Winegrowing, handed out each year since 2010 by the Botanical Research Institute of Texas (BRIT). The first winery in Spain to receive this award.
