Empordàlia

History

Empordàlia is the union of small producers from the region of L'Empordà, who have been working the land for many generations. They stand out both for the production of wines and extra virgin olive oils.

Its history begins in 1947 with the foundation of the cooperative of Vilajuïga. Later, in 1961, the Pau cooperative was born, which joined with Roses. They are all born with the same purpose: to work together to offer a quality product that reflects the character of their land. In 2005 they decided to join forces to create Empordàlia, a project that in 2007 will also be joined by the SAT (Sociedad de Transformación Agrícola) Mare de Déu del Camp de Garriguella. Empordàlia is the fruit of the effort of many years, teamwork and the will to follow this path, with the same values and respect for the land that grandparents and great-grandparents taught them, thinking about future generations.

Wine profile

The wines of Empordàlia will be loved by the Tramontana wind, a rocky geography, scarce rain and the brackish of the nearby sea. The native varieties of L'Empordà are of great value, therefore, Grenache and Carignan are the basis of its wines. 75% of the cultivated area is of these two varieties. 25% is cabernet sauvignon, merlot and syrah. White wines are made with Macabeo, Grenache and Muscat. The grapes come from the region of L'Alt Empordà, specifically, from Pau, Palau, Vilajuïga, Garriguella and Roses.
